The San Diego Chargers have been in the NFL since 1970, and over those 30-plus years, they’ve won six division championships and made eight playoff appearances. The team was matched up with the San Francisco 49ers that starred quarterback Steve Young and wide receiver Jerry Rice. The Chargers hadn’t made the playoffs in ten years before last season, but the 2004 bunch shocked a lot of people by finishing 12-4 and winning the AFC West. The team improved on defense in almost every aspect and saw its quarterback step up and make plays in a way that hasn’t been done since hall of fame QB Dan Fouts was leading the team years ago.
