2011 San Diego Chargers
After failing to take his team into the playoffs last season, Head Coach Norv Turner knew players would have to step up and take it to the next level. Enter undrafted Linebacker Darryl Gamble. Gamble is making the best of his limited exposure to his coaches and has sparked talk among his coaches and peers as he opened his NFL career with eight tackles, a sack and one tackle for a loss. Can Gamble really make the team? Coach Turner makes the case for him. "As I told our guys the night before the game, all you have to do is look around our room and see the number of guys who came in undrafted and crafted a successful NFL career," Turner said. "There were a number of important guys on the team who were Darryl Gamble when they got here."
The players that were drafted have, for the most part, panned out. DE Corey Liuget, the team’s first round pick (18th overall) looks to have the Left DE all sewn up and RB Jordon Todman, their 6th round selection, looks to have solidified a spot on the roster. Others are not as sure such as WR Vincent Brown, who was slotted as the 3rd receiver but has yet to practice due to injury and CB Shareece Wright who has also missed a massive gaps of practice due to injury.
Look for the Chargers prolific offense to again shine and for their defense to be able to stop both the run and the pass.
